June 2009, Ljubljana, Slovenia Day 31

Stopped in at Lake Balaton, Hungary on my path to Ljubljana, Slovenia. Nice spot even though I didn't manage to find the beach, just rocks and people laying on the grass. I was surprised how many people spoke German. It was easier for me to get directions in German than English as I believe it is a big German holiday destination with lots of signs in German.

More green hills in South Eastern Hungarian.

One of many different energy drinks in my travels. This being the Hungarian version.

In to Slovenia and mountains around 5 pm with a slight threat of rain in the air.

My stay in Ljubljana was hosted by Rok another Couch Surfer who lives right in the heart of town. That's the way to do it! Rok and I hit it off over a couple of Lagosha beers and this monster meat dish which we could not finish. I wish I could have this meal every night!

Met up with a couple of Rok's girlfriends, Ana and Irena. We had a little tour and a couple of beers. A lazy Saturday with everyone speaking great English in Ljubljana.

The next morning giving Rok's 30 year old classic a go.

Cheers, mate. Great host. We'll have to meet up again.

Quick commentary before I rode off to Italy to see my roots along the secondary roads of Slovenia in order to avoid paying the 17 euro ($30 cdn) vignette charge.
